In cooperation and organization with the Zagreb-based company Mjerne tehnologije (MTeh), we participated in a two-day (January 14th and 15th 2026) professional training at the headquarters of the German technology company AP Sensing in Böblingen, near Stuttgart, Germany.
The aim of the training was to gain in-depth knowledge of the advanced technologies of one of the world’s leading manufacturers of fiber optic equipment for fully distributed measurements—particularly for temperature measurement systems (DTS), as well as for technologies that detect vibrational and acoustic stimuli along the fiber optic cable (DAS), which are key parameters for understanding the environments in which the cable-sensors are installed.
Ongoing training and collaboration with experts from other companies involved in the development and application of fiber optic technology is of strategic importance for the future of STE.
Non-electrical, non-metallic, and electromagnetically and galvanically transparent technologies for fiber optic sensor measurements open up new, still largely unexplored possibilities in the fields of measurement, detection, and alarm systems—thereby contributing to the reliability, safety, and smart management of so-called long linear structures, infrastructure, and other aboveground and underground systems.

One of STE’s key goals is to actively participate in the implementation and further development of these solutions, with a clear vision and ambitious plans for their application in both domestic and international markets.
It is well known that the value of such initiatives and training lies not only in acquiring new technical knowledge and exchanging professional experience, but also in the opportunities for formal and informal personal encounters, which always bring added value to business collaborations and help build constructive relationships between people and companies.
